A tool to collect user feedback on data visualizations

Instructions on how to use the tool

  1. These instructions are designed for after you have downloaded and installed the browser extension. Please click here to visit the Google Chrome Store page if you haven’t already.
  2. Having installed the browser extension you will first be required to complete the profile section.
  3. To go to the profile section please click on the logo in the form of a pie chart icon in the top right toolbar. You should then see a pop up as seen below. Click on 'profile page'. This should open up in a new tab.
    Note: As this is a research project for a PhD project you will be required to give consent for your data to be collected.

  5. When you are happy with the information you have input please click on ‘save’. Please note you are required to only visit this page once.
  6. Having completed the profile page you can move on to giving feedback on a selection of online data visualisations.
    Note: Please visit the bottom half of this page for the current list of data visualisations to feed back on.
  7. When you navigate to one of these pages you will notice that a tab, with the logo in the form of a pie chart logo will appear on the left hand side of the screen. This means that you will be able to give feedback on this particular web page.
  8. Do not click on the tab until you have finished engaging with the data visualisation. Completion of engagement in this context means when you have finished looking at or interacting with the data visualisation and feel ready to give feedback.
  9. When you are ready to give feedback click on the tab. See image below
  10. This will open up the set of questions for you to answer. Complete these in your own time and when you are happy with your answers click ‘submit’.

  11. Complete steps 6-9 for the remaining data visualisations.
